About

Salam Noor, a Yemeni journalist, writer and human rights activist, in addition to his work as a graphic and web designer, worked with many media platforms in press editing, news writing, digital montage, and the production of media reporting to cover the war in Yemen. The Houthi group stopped him for 25 days because of his activism as a journalist. He was kidnapped by Al-Qaeda in Aden for 14 days, then worked as the Minister of Information for the Yemeni government office from Riyadh for two years, and then with the Yemen TV channel to manage and develop the website.
Noor is married to a former Yemeni journalist and has twin children, Shahd and Fahd, and he is used to activities with music, playing tennis, chess, swimming and running for long distances.

HIS LIFE:

He was born to a small relative in Yemen (a village of Al-Maqariah) in Raymah Governorate, Bakal District, in 1988. He is of the Sunni Sufi sect. Then he converted to the Wahhabi Sunni sect. He graduated from Sana’a University, Faculty of Information, in 2011.

He trained in media work in Beirut Lebnan with a private TV channel. After that, he worked as a reporter to cover events in Yemen during the revolution that began with the Arab Spring, and then as a reporter, photographer and editor of video for many Gulf channels, TV and radios from Aden; he had many articles in human rights.

CAREER PATH:

Working in different media on multiple tasks:

  • 2011-2013 Worked as a reporter and technical editor for Al-Sahat TV.
  • 2013-2014 Editorial and Production Department at YMC TV.
  • 2014-2015 Administration of the Arab News Agency office in Aden.
  • 2017-2019 Graphic in the media department of the Yemeni Ministry of Information in Riyadh.
  • 2019-2022 Website management of Yemen TV.

PROFESSIONALLY:

  • 2017 set up a charity (Nada Foundation for the Protection of Girls) in Yemen; the Foundation won an award in London among the best organizations in the Middle East and North Africa, costing 50K dollars.
  • 2018 founder of a commercial foundation (Graphic Makers) for media production.
  • 2022 set up a charity (Newcastle Arab Community) to help people.

HIS WRITING:
He has written many articles on human rights, advocacy for the marginalized, support for feminism, and children’s rights. He has also written on religious criticism, intellectual trends, and people’s political and social transformations.
